Yeah, that's right. Tune in to Morning Edition tomorrow at 6:10 am and/or 8:10am to hear their feature on Cupcake Royale and the good work our favorite bosslady, Jody Hall, has been doing for health care reform. This issue is HOT HOT HOT right now, and we can't let this golden opportunity for real reform pass us by. Here's what you can do:
1. Get informed! If you don't already know what's the what with the health care reform debate in this country, you had better find out. HERE and HERE are good places to start.
2. Tune in to NPR's Morning Edition tomorrow morning at 6:10 am and/or 8:10 am to hear the feature on Cupcake Royale and learn how this reform can provide much-needed relief to small businesses and their MILLIONS of employees nationwide. In the Seattle area, you'll hear it on 94.9 KUOW.
3. Call the number below and tell our policymakers why we need real reform, real bad, right now. We've been stamping it on all of our coffee cups, so it shouldn't be toooooo hard to find, but here it is again: 1-877-264-4226
The time is now. Let's get this done.

ReplyDeleteMaria Cantwell should be the #1 target of our pleas. She is still vague on what kind of public option we should have and I believe she is supporting the co-op idea, which will be a failure. Co-op health programs (and the plan will be one for each state) will require at least a half million members each and will need to be subsidized by federal funds. You know the insurance industry will go in for the kill on federal subsidies. Co-ops will mostly fail. That is exactly what Republicans want. Republicans may like your cupcakes but they sure do not care about people without healthcare.

Ms. Hall, are you willing to support a public option for cupcakes? I am very serious.
Are you willing to compete with a government [whatever level, city, state, federal] to sell cupcakes? Are you REALLY willing to compete with, say, the federal government to make and sell cupcakes? Remember, governments get their revenue by compulsory taxation, NOT by voluntary trade; governments have VERY DEEP pockets, governments rarely go bankrupt, while you very well may in the process.
Are you really willing to compete with them?
Of course, I do not expect an answer.
It is very easy to support a "public option" when you do not have to compete with it; when "others" have to do it, but not you.
I just called. I could not get through, so the organization had me record my thoughts. I've written my congressmen and senators numerous times (Jim McDermott just now again), the problem is they are already on board with health care reform. ANYONE who has friends on other states, especially "blue dog" states, please call your congressmen and senators. All states. Please. This has gone on long enough, insurance companies care about one thing: Profit. Not our health. And how they are spending millions to persuade certain congressmen to stop reform. We HAVE to stop them.
